All Hallows Eve...

I'm not usually a big celebrator of Halloween, especially when it falls mid week like today, if it was on a Saturday and there was a party, I'd dress up. Today all I could muster was some dripping blood nail art.
I do however, love the stories. So today I've put together a list of some of my favourites scary books!

Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde~
Two characters I'm sure most people will know, but the story is a bit murkier. It is from the same author as Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson, and how he came to write it is as infamous as the tale itself. The scenes in the book came to him in a dream after a cocaine infused night. He then wrote the book in three days, which his wife subsequently burnt forcing him to write this current one. It revolves around Dr. Jekyll leaving everything in his will to a Mr. Hyde. This worries and puzzles his lawyer, Utterson, as everyone has a bad feeling about Mr. Hyde and he later commits a murder. We find out the curious tale as Utterson delves deeper into the mystery.
Pride and Prejudice Zombies~
This is a fairly new acquirement which I've not finished reading. It's certainly a fun twist on the original. With the opening line; 'It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains' I'm sure you can all guess the theme here, but I won't say any more to the story. It's from a series called Quirk classics which puts a certain (ahem) *twist* on some classics, with another book in the series called 'Android Karenina'. I've enjoyed where I've read to so far and would recommend it to those of you a bit bored of 'classic' Austen!
Frankenstein~
This book (Also called The Modern Prometheous, a play on words from the story of the god who stole fire from the gods to better human's lives; Victor Frankenstein stole 'life'), written by Mary Shelley. It tells of Frankenstein's creation, a monster he thought would be beautiful and is instead, repulsed by it. It is a very sad tale with the monster tormenting Victor and murdering his companions one by one, in revenge for Victor not creating him a mate, as it all comes to an ends in the North Pole.
Interview with the Vampire~
Most of you will probably know the film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. I love this because of the way it's told; as an interview in the present day between 'Louis' and 'the boy' a reporter he tells his story to. It begins with Lestat turning him(Louis) into a vampire, and living in New Orleans during the 18th century. Its a really interesting read (and led me to my love of True blood!), I wouldn't bother with the other books in the series by Anne Rice, personally, I didn't find them that good.

I was going to include my Bram Stoker 'Dracula' on this list but I can't find it anywhere :( Bad times!
What are you up to for Halloween, going out tonight? Dressing up? Or going out at the weekend/ went out last weekend?
