Travel Destinations: Sydney

Sydney is probably the most famous city in Australia, often mistaken for the capital. It's on the east coast, in New South Wales, home to approx 4.6 million and the site of the first British colony. It's considered by other Australians as the hedonistic party city. The currency is Australian dollars.

The city itself is huge, with many ways to get around, from water taxis in and around the harbour, to buses, trams and the monorail. There are many different areas of Sydney, such as Sydney City central; The Rocks- home to many bars and cafes and above which is the Harbour bridge and Observatory Hill, Darling Harbour- home to The National Maritime Museum and Sydney aquarium (pictured above),  and Chinatown (- exactly what it says on the tin!)
The famous Opera House is a huge tourist attraction in Sydney and draws in thousands everyday. It lies just north of the city centre and the area of land its on juts into Port Jackson.
There's also the Eastern suburbs which include Kings Cross, Darlinghurst and Paddington, known for it's shopping. If shopping is your thing, there's also Th Queen Victoria building in the Central business distinct (an area which spans from the Opera house to Darling harbour). The building contains all the shops you could ever want and boasts five floors. It's pictured below:
As well as the Aquarium, Opera house and Queen Victoria building there is also Bondi beach is where the Eastern suburbs meet the Southern Beaches, that is worth a visit, and not forgetting the famous Harbour Bridge, situated above 'The Rocks'.
Sydney isn't cheap to get to, or stay in, but it is beautiful and a city that is definitely worth a visit, with it's own airport, harbour and huge train station there are many ways to get here, and an abundance of hotels to stay in.
Have any of you been to Australia or Sydney before? Would you go again or are you planning your first trip there?

    1. No there's not really bugs in Sydney as its a huge city, it's more the rural areas where there's anything really dangerous.
      Thanks, you too!

  8. I live in Adelaide (South Australia) and love it. Admittedly I've never been to Sydney (Australia is a big place, lots of places to visit!) but would love to take a weekend trip.
