Go Big or go home

I'm sure many will know of the Sea salt spray trend that really took off last summer. I wasn't really a fan myself so was a bit apprehensive buying a sea salt shampoo. But I love Lush's 'Big'. It really does give you lovely 'big' hair and is well worth the money, in my opinion.

For the price you pay ( £11.25 for 330g) it isn't that bad value for money. As this is a shampoo not meant for everyday use, I've used it about 4 times so far and am only about 1/4 down the pot, it seems quite good value for your money for the results you get. I love the big textured hair it gives me, without the dryness of using a texturising or sea salt spray.

I use this with a conditioner, as my dry, dyed ends wouldn't look very nice if I didn't. Although I focus it mainly on the roots. It does look a bit questionable (!) in the pot and quite gloopy but it lathers up nicely and the sea salt doesn't stick to the hair. It has quite a pleasant, clean smell, if that makes sense, not particularly fruity or floral to me, but I don't really want it to smell.

I really liked this product and will definitely be repurchasing. What do you think of Lush products? And what are your favourites?

  1. Great review, the only Lush shampoo I've tried is the Seanik solid shampoo bar and I love it :)

    1. I did find the first time it went a bit knotty, but after that I left my conditioner on the ends for longer and used moroccan oil on it before brushing and it was fine. I really like the smell too!

  6. I haven't ever heard of this product, I feel a bit skeptical on it just because I can see it being quite drying... Also, doesnt it smell salty?

    1. It is quite drying as salt sprays are, but it's best to focus it on the roots and then leave conditioner on the ends a bit longer than normal and it's fine for me. No it doesn't smell salty at all, just shampoo-y! :)

  7. Great review. I've never tried this before - or any Lush hair products for that matter. It looks like it would be quite heavy so I don't think it would suit me but I may have to try it out!

    1. Yes that's what I use it for! :) It's not really an everyday shampoo as you need to use conditioner to stop it being so drying.

  15. This looks lovely! I am desperate to try it, I attempted making my own sea salt spray once and it went terribly haha! It would be good to have a none damaging, salt shampoo instead :)
