Liz Earle Vs. Superdrug

I thought I'd do a little comparison review of a famous 'cult' beauty product- the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and Superdrug's new dupe; the Vitamin E Hot Cloth cleanser ...

They are both pictured here with their toners (there isn't a vitamin E toner, so I had to get the closest thing!) but they won't be reviewed here- it's all about the cleansers!
The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, 100ml for £14.95, is meant for all skin types and all ages, using plant extracts in the cleanser- the idea it that you lather on the cleanser to wash or 'cleanse' the face and then use the Muslin cloth to 'polish' off dead skin cells as you wash off the cleanser.
Some people say it gives them spots/acne, others swear by it and love it. Me, personally, I really like it, I wouldn't say I love it, but I definitely really like it. I don't use it every day as for me that feels a bit much especially on days where I don't wear any make up. It does leave your face feeling soft and refreshed- especially after using the muslin cloth and warm water,
But it was this fact that led me to wondering if there were any good dupes out there that also had muslin cloths or whether the magic really lied in the cleanser?
So I found this Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser in Superdrug, 200ml for £4.99 and it came with a muslin cloth, just like the Liz Earle one did.
It's quite thick and has a nice suncreamy/ vitamin E (!??) smell to it, and worked just as well as the Liz Earle did in my opinion. it left my skin feeling soft and clean. I didn't really see a huge difference between the two and as the price difference is so massive I don't think I'll be getting the Liz Earle one again (as this continues to work!). my only gripe on this is the muslin cloth is not as nice as the one with Liz Earle and become a bit rough quite quickly. But they're so cheap to buy, I'll jsut get another from somewhere else!

Thanks for reading! Have you tried either the Liz Earle or the Superdrug cleanser- or both and which did you prefer?

  23. As soon as I read the title of this post I'd pressed that 'read more' button before you could say cleanse and polish. There's been such a hype around the Liz Earle product I was curious to whether or not it was worth it, but after reading you're post I may try the Superdrug one first.
